We want everyone to be able to use movos.ca, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, screen magnification or other assistive technology.
Our commitment
We’re committed to making movos.ca meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We build and test the site against that standard.
Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) sets web accessibility requirements for larger organizations. We hold ourselves to WCAG 2.2 AA whatever our size.
What we’ve done
- Keyboard access. Everything on the site works with a keyboard, and a visible orange focus ring shows where you are.
- Reduced motion. Every animation has a reduced-motion version. If you’ve set your device to reduce motion, you’ll see a still version instead.
- Colour contrast. Automated tests check our text and background colours against the WCAG AA contrast requirements.
- Text equivalents. The zone map and the animated scenes each have a text equivalent, such as a list of zones or a list of the steps a scene shows.
- Forms. Every form field has a label. Errors are linked to the field they’re about and announced to screen readers.
- Zoom and reflow. Pages reflow at a width of 320 px and at 200% zoom.
How we test
Every change to the site runs through automated tests before it goes live.
- Automated checks with axe test every page against WCAG 2.2 AA, at phone and desktop widths. They also test our forms with errors showing, and the creative previewer with a file loaded.
- Other tests check that every page reflows at 320 px without scrolling sideways, that a form with errors moves focus to the first field to fix and announces what’s missing, and that our forms still work with JavaScript turned off.
Automated tools can’t find every barrier. We’re planning a full review with screen readers, including VoiceOver on iPhone and Mac, and we’ll update this page with what it finds.
Known limitations
- The spam check on our forms, Cloudflare Turnstile, comes from Cloudflare. It usually runs without asking you to do anything. If it can’t finish, for example because it’s blocked, your form still sends after a few seconds.
- The zone map in the campaign planner is a picture you can click. Every zone on it is also in the list of checkboxes below the map, which works with a keyboard and a screen reader.
- The creative previewer shows how an ad might look on a panel. That preview is visual, so every check the previewer runs is also given as text.
Other formats
If you need information from this site in another format, ask us. For example, we can send a page as plain text or as a document that works with your screen reader, or describe a map or animation in writing. There’s no charge.
